Artist's Comments

a pic for a double page spread (masthead and copy goes on the right) for a Cosmos magazine fiction story called The Noise Machine. The idea here was to make the tattoo look more alive and real than the woman.

You see I cannot be forsaken
because I'm not the only one
We walk amongst you feeding, raping
Must we hide from everyone?

A hard task about making the tatoo more alive... the statue-like appearance of the woman and the small details like the dragon's eyes help, but I think it misses a little something... i recall one of your works delivering that kind of effect (Changing Ways [link]), altough the child is bright and colorful, the creature seems more alive for some reason, maybe the body language or something.

Good job. Though i hate to say this, that was done in the second Eragon book. Eldest. Other than that, it looks very nice.

yar, unfortunately i gotta follow the art director and this is what they wanted, right down to the technique, style and color scheme.

The simple things are always hard.
The easy way is always mined.
